The V-shaped ball valve is the most important unit in fluid handling systems, responsible for regulating the fluid flow in the system. The V-shaped ball valve often serves as a terminal control component and is the most important component in any pipeline system. Without a properly sized V-shaped ball valve, the system cannot operate efficiently. The oversized size of the V-shaped ball valve results in a decrease in the system’s regulating performance; If the size is too small, the fluid passing through the control valve will cause significant pressure loss to maintain sufficient flow, and often cannot meet the flow requirements. Mastering the knowledge of fluid mechanics and pipeline system composition is beneficial for the correct selection of V-shaped ball valves.
How to choose the correct size of V-shaped ball valve:
1. Choose the appropriate formula for calculating Cv value and calculate Cv;
2. Determine whether there is cavitation based on FL and Xt values;
3. According to the calculated Cv value, refer to the Cv value table and select the appropriate valve diameter and V-port angle; (V-shaped ball valve: Ensure that the calculated minimum and maximum Cv values are between 20% and 80% opening of the V-shaped ball valve.). )
4. Choose the connection method (flange, thread, or welding) and material of the valve;
5. Select actuator type: electric actuator or pneumatic actuator.
Note: The selection of the opening direction of the V-shaped ball valve’s V-shaped port allows for high-precision adjustment with a small opening, and the pointed angle of the V-shaped port faces forward; Large opening high-precision adjustment, with the curved surface of the V-shaped mouth facing forward; The V-shaped port is located in the high-pressure direction of the medium.
