Product Introduction of Electric Control Valve In the automatic control of modern factories, the control valve plays a very important role. The production of these factories depends on the correct distribution and control of flowing liquids and gases. Whether it is energy exchange, pressure reduction, or simply container filling, these controls all require some final control element to accomplish the task. The final control element can be considered as the “muscle” of automatic control. Between the low energy level of the regulator and the high energy level function required to control flowing fluids, the final control element completes the necessary power amplification. The control valve is the most widely used type of final control element. Other final control elements include metering pumps, regulating dampers and louver dampers (a variant of the butterfly valve), variable pitch fan blades, current regulating devices, and motor positioning devices other than valves. Although control valves are widely used, probably no other unit in the control system requires as little maintenance as they do. In many systems, control valves endure more severe operating conditions such as temperature, pressure, corrosion, and contamination than other components. Yet, when controlling process fluid flow, they must operate satisfactorily with minimal maintenance. The control valve acts as a variable resistance in the pipeline. It changes the turbulence of the process fluid or provides a pressure drop under laminar flow conditions. This pressure drop is caused by changing the valve resistance or “friction.” This pressure reduction process is commonly referred to as “throttling.” For gases, it is close to isothermal adiabatic conditions, with deviations depending on the non-ideality of the gas (Joule-Thomson effect). In the case of liquids, the pressure is consumed by turbulent or viscous friction, both of which convert pressure into thermal energy, resulting in a slight temperature increase. A common control loop includes three main parts. The first part is the sensing element, which is typically a transmitter. It is a device that can be used to measure the controlled process parameter, such as pressure, level, or temperature. The output of the transmitter is sent to the regulating instrument – the regulator, which determines and compares the deviation between the set point or desired value and the actual value of the process parameter, and sends correction signals one after another to the final control element – the control valve. The valve changes the fluid flow rate, bringing the process parameter to the desired value. In pneumatic control systems, the pneumatic signal output from the regulator can directly drive a spring-diaphragm actuator or a piston actuator to operate the valve. In this case, the energy required to determine the valve position is provided by compressed air. The compressed air should be dried in outdoor equipment to prevent freezing, and should be purified and filtered. When a pneumatic control valve is used with an electric regulator, an electro-pneumatic valve positioner or an electro-pneumatic converter can be adopted. The compressed air supply system can be considered the same as that used for fully pneumatic control systems. In the terminology of control theory, the control valve has both static and dynamic characteristics, thus affecting the success or failure of the entire control loop. The static characteristic or gain term is the flow characteristic of the valve, which depends on the valve size, the combined structure of the plug and seat, the type of actuator, the valve positioner, the upstream and downstream pressures, and the properties of the fluid.
